Revlon Chic + Lynnderella Connect the Dots

So, I've probably told you many many times of my love for Chic and Connect the Dots, but for some reason it didn't occur to me to wear them together until now. WHY DID IT TAKE ME SO LONG? I'VE HAD BOTH THESE COLORS FOR MONTHS.

This is two coats of Chic. I used one sort-of coat of Connect the Dots over top of it, but I kinda dabbed it on rather than applying a "proper" coat.

It might be because I haven't pulled out Connect the Dots in a while, but I did have a bit of trouble placing the glitter, and I had to fish for the big square pieces. I was able to get one of those giant hexes though, so I am pleased with that! They usually don't lay flat, but if you give it 3 or 4 minutes to set, and then gently press it down with a fingertip or something, it stays, and doesn't snag on everything.

Of course, I had to try wearing this matte. Under artificial light:

So cool. And almost entirely smooth! No Gelous required.

As I've mentioned before, Chic is part of Revlon's core lineup, so that shouldn't be hard to find at all. Connect the Dots (and all other Lynns, for that matter) is another story. I believe they're currently being sold on Ebay for $20 each.

There are a TON of indie alternatives to Connect the Dots if you'd rather not buy the Lynnderella (or if you'd just rather not pay $20 for a polish that was once sold for $12)......... Chalkboard Nails put together a fantastic comparison.

Thanks for looking and commenting, and have a great week!

Revlon Chic + Nails Inc. the Wyndham, Finger Paints Asylum

Recently, Revlon revamped their nail polish line and added a bunch of new colors, and Chic is one of them. It's a dusty blue with a fantastic formula, smooth and opaque in 2 coats. It dries glossy on its own.

I looooove this color, as evidenced by the fact that it's in my Top 20. I bought it last December, and I've worn it several times since then. It's fantastic as a base color for layering, so versatile! Of course, being the space case that I am, I forgot to take photos of most of the layering combinations that I tried, but here are two of them, both glossy and matte:

I've shown you the Wyndham before, but it's just so freakin' pretty! I love the green-blue shift, which is even more prominent when matte.

And here is Chic with Finger Paints Asylum. Indoors, Chic turns into a dusty teal, but I think that also might have something to do with the slightly milky base of Asylum.

Of course, I had to try this combo matte, and I think it's my favorite combination so far!

It doesn't really translate in the photos, but the blue flakies in Asylum show up really nicely.

Sinful Colors Open Seas, plus some layering!

Sinful Colors is great. They've been ripping off OPI collections lately, which I guess isn't cool for OPI, but it's great for us! It means we can get $2 dupes of some of the colors. In the spring, OPI released their Pirates of the Caribbean collection, and soon afterward, Sinful came out with their Adventure Island collection.

Open Seas is a jade creme intended to dupe OPI Mermaid's Tears. It came pretty close, but not quite. Mermaid's Tears is a bit more blue-toned, and Open Seas has more yellow. That's a good thing for me though, since Mermaid's Tears is a very weird color for my skintone. Open Seas looks MUCH better. It has an interesting formula though. It's thin, and needs to thicken up a bit before it becomes easy to apply. The first time I wore it, it took 3 coats, but the next time it only took 2. Here is 2 coats of Open Seas on its own (advance apologies for the dry hands! the cold has not been kind):

Of course, since I can never leave a creme alone, both times I've worn this I layered with it. The first time I wore it, I put L.A. Girls Crowd Surfing (aka Love & Beauty Green) on top.

I tried wearing this combination matte too, and it looks even cooler that way! I had some proper photos of this combination, but my hands are so horribly dry that I'll spare you all those photos.

The second time I wore this, I layered Nails Inc. the Wyndham on top! I'm very fond of this combination too. 2 coats of the Wyndham over Open Seas:

For some reason, I forgot to take photos of this while it was glossy, but I like it better matte anyway.

Milani Silver Dazzle

Good morning! It's midterm season...boo. 2 down, 2 to go...le sigh. I have been on a huge glitter kick lately, which is funny because when I started wearing nail polish (about a year ago), I absolutely hated glitter. Hated it. I thought it was ridiculous and tacky, ESPECIALLY full-coverage glitters, but here I am, wearing a full-coverage glitter. I love it! I still hate glitters like OPI Mad as a Hatter and Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday, but I am really enjoying these Milani One-Coat Glitters.

They do require 2 coats, not one, but the formula is really easy to apply. It's not at all thick or gloopy like many glitters can be. Silver Dazzle is a bit of a misnomer; the glitter is definitely grey or gunmetal-colored. Regardless, it is so awesome! I layered it over a grey creme franken that I'll be showing you later this week, but that turned out to be superfluous, because Silver Dazzle is so dense. This is 2 coats of Silver Dazzle over 1 coat of my franken:

It's sparkly enough on its own, but top coat makes it super glossy and even more sparkly! Here's a blurred picture so you can get some idea of how awesome this is:

So shiny! So amazing. Glitter is such a pain to clean up, but that goes for all glitters, not just this one. Of course, before I took this off, I had to try wearing it matte, and I absolutely love the result:

As you can see, I used Essie Matte About You, and the result looks almost like granite! It's got a really interesting texture, and it's completely smooth, but still sparkly, and has loads of depth. I'm the type to repaint my nails after only a day or two, and I wore this matte mani for 3 days. I had this nail polish on for a total of 6 days, and I got absolutely no chips, and a hardly-noticeable amount of tipwear.
